A Taste of the World

Wonderful Welwyn Garden City World Food Festival returns to the town centre, Saturday 18 May, 11 – 5pm.

The World Food Festival is a celebration of world culture in the heart of Wonderful Welwyn Garden City. An opportunity for visitors to experience new tastes and flavours around the globe. There will be 30 food stalls cooking up culinary delights from South African to Caribbean, why not come and try something new?

In Wigmores South there will be a market area selling food related products for you to purchase and take home to enjoy, whilst listening to the acoustic music from WH! on tour outside Sainsbury’s.

Come and learn some great tips on cooking at home from the experts at the cooking demonstration stage, 11 – 4.30pm, featuring Kumud Gandhi from The Cooking Academy and chefs from Oaklands College and Sushi Daily from Waitrose.

They say it makes the world go around and we say it helps the food go down! Enjoy a variety of performances while you sample the delights of the Food Festival on the World Music Stage from 11 – 5pm. Acts include Brixton Cumbia Association, Dhol Division and The SGs Reggae Band and many more.

There’s also plenty to entertain the kids. Take a ride on the model steam train, reach new heights with our bungee trampolines, FREE face painting and great photo opportunities with your favourite characters. We also have activities by Templewood PTA and the Willow Foundation for the whole family to enjoy.

And don’t miss the Fairly Fresh Fish Company on Howardsgate 12pm, 1pm & 2.30pm. These two superb silly fishmongers will be selling their wares. With dancing prawns, an octopus which comes to life and stirrings in the jellied eel jar, this walkabout is not to be missed.

This festival is a feast of food and fabulous fun for all the family and best of all it’s FREE to enter. We look forward to seeing you there.
