Bedford Residents Star in New Fusion Lifestyle Campaign

Return to fitness with Fusion Centres in Bedford this September

Oliver Westbrook Netherton, aged 27 and Roza Strek aged 37, both from Bedford, are taking starring roles in a brand new campaign from Fusion Lifestyle this autumn.  Oliver is a member at Robinson Pools & Fitness, and Roza is a member at Kempston Pool – both managed by Fusion Lifestyle on behalf of Bedford Borough Council

The ‘Return to Fitness’ campaign tells the inspirational stories of Fusion members across the UK and aims to inspire and encourage others from the area to tackle their own fitness goals.  Oliver and Roza’s stories will appear throughout the multi-channel campaign including social media, posters in and around the centre, on the centre website and on flyers which will be seen throughout the community.

Marathon running Oliver has been a member at Robinson Pools & Fitness since September 2018.  He joined Fusion once he had won a place in the Virgin London Marathon 2019 and The Wall Rat Race Ultra Marathon – running 70 miles in just one day.  Already a competent runner, Oliver’s goals were to improve his strength and prepare for long distance running.  His time at the gym paid off and not only did he successfully complete the London Marathon and The Wall Rat Race Ultra Marathon, he also raised an incredible £2,600 for charity. Oliver says he was delighted to get the chance to appear in Fusion’s ‘Return to Fitness’ campaign and is thankful for the fantastic support given by the team at Robinson Pools & Fitness.

Roza says she wasn’t fit when she joined Fusion’s Kempston Pool centre and wasn’t at all active after finishing her working day at the office. Roza had been steadily piling on the pounds and had become so self-conscious that she tried to disguise her weight under a hat and oversized jumper when she first joined Fusion and started her journey to fitness.  Encouraged and supported by the staff and trainers at Kempston Pool, she tried a variety of activities including running, jogging, leg extensions, training with dumbbells, cross-trainers and using the swimming pool.  After 17 weeks of hard work, Roza has lost 3 stones and is now preparing herself for the London Marathon.  She says she feels thoroughly motivated and hopes her role in Fusion’s Return to Fitness campaign will inspire others to reach their goals

Rob Jennings, business manager at Fusion Lifestyle, commented: ‘‘At Fusion, we are on a mission to help our members reach their goals. We are all about overcoming the big and little hurdles life throws at us, rediscovering abilities we thought we had lost and empowering people to recover from injuries so they can become fitness stars, once again. These are the stories that we want to tell this autumn through our new campaign and what better way to do this than to put our members front and centre of our new campaign.”

Cllr Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for Leisure said “It’s great to hear these stories of local residents achieving their fitness goals at our local leisure facilities. With Fusion’s ‘Return to Fitness’ campaign, this is a great time to get inspired and maybe try something new.”
