Rushden Lakes’ Christmas celebrations will officially start on Thursday 6 December, with its first late-night shopping evening of the season. Shoppers will have the chance to take advantage of free parking as they tick gifts off their list until 8pm at top stores including Boots, Card Factory, Decathlon, Hobbycraft, House of Fraser, M&S, Magazine Heaven, Next, Pandora and River Island.
Delicious mince pies will be available for visitors to indulge in for free, as well as merry magic from Festive Foxley, who will be cycling around playing music and giving out treats. There will be additional entertainment from talented Christmas hula-hoopers too.
Customers can treat themselves to a well-deserved shopping break at one of Rushden Lakes’ restaurants including Wagamama, PizzaExpress, Wildwood, Bill’s, the newly-opened Five Guys, and of course, Nando’s – due to open on Wednesday 5 December.
Late night shopping will continue from Monday 10 December when Rushden Lakes will be open until 9pm every weekday. And, on Thursday 13 December there will even more tasty treats and performances from the GlitterBelles and roller skating Christmas puddings.
The festive fun doesn’t stop at shopping in the evenings, on Saturday 8 December and Saturday 16 December, families will be able to meet Santa outside his lodge between Fat Face and L’Occitane. From 11am until 4pm each day, parents and their children will have the chance to meet him and his elves, take photos and share what is on their wish list.
Little ones will also be able to post their letters to Santa at his lodge between Monday 3 and Saturday 15 December. An extra special reply from the big man himself can be collected from Monday 17 December until Christmas Eve.
The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire will also be spreading Christmas cheer with some exciting craft activities. On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December, the Nene Wetlands Visitor Centre will be a hosting a fun, festive weekend with decoration and wreath making between 11am and 4pm. Event-goers can expect live music and refreshments as well as a winter, guided walk around the nature reserve at 10.30am until 12pm on Sunday.
Not only will Rushden Lakes be getting the people of Northamptonshire into the Christmas spirit with its host of activities, but it will also have lots up for grabs when it comes to festive shopping.
