Ampthill Festival Weekend, 5-7 July

Ampthill Park, Bedfordshire

The three-day volunteer-run music festival, will see festival-goers enjoy a weekend of live music and entertainment. The festivities begin with AmpRocks on Friday 5 July, where The Vamps, Squeeze, The Cuban Brothers and Jo Whiley will entertain crowds. The event is hugely popular so be quick to purchase tickets. The weekend continues with AmpProms on the Saturday with performances by Britain’s Got Talent winning musical theatre quartet Collabro, the Ampthill Choir and Ampthill Concert Orchestra. The event is finished with a spectacular firework display. The weekend closes with the AmpGala on Sunday 7 July. A free, no ticket required event, it’s a great family day filled with fun, a lively parade, local bands and stalls. www.ampthillfestival.com.

Mill Meadows, Bedford


Bedford’s annual food and music festival returns to Mill Meadows with more street food, food demos, local producers, live music and more kids’ activities than ever before. This classic evening airshow will bring to the fore the fun of flying, and a range of aircraft of all shapes and sizes supported by the LAA. With a relaxed atmosphere, and where the light can be at its best for photography, this airshow will showcase displaying aircraft from the early and pioneering years of aviation quite unlike any found anywhere else in the UK! Linslade Canal Festival, 27 July

Tiddenfoot Waterside Park

A celebration of canal life, the popular event features a stage programme, stalls and food within the Paddock. On the canal visitors can enjoy boat rides and browse the working, historical and trade boat displays. Listen to local bands, folk and English country music. Bedford Park Proms

Bedford Park Concerts, 26-28 July

The concerts return for another summer weekend of live music! The action kicks off with Café Mambo. Ibiza’s most iconic sunset bar will bring some Balearic magic from the White Isle to Bedford on 26 July. DJ sets include Danny Howard, Jason Bye and Judge Jules. Headliner Rita Ora will be blasting out her hits on 27 July, followed by Radio one DJ ‘MistaJam’. Bedford Park Proms will close the weekend on 28 July with a musical celebration which will culminate with rousing favourites of flag-waving and singing along, including Rule Britannia and Land of Hope & Glory, as thousands of lasers and fireworks light up the sky. Love Bedford Medieval Festival, 27 July

SpectaculArts Carnival, 7 September

Bedford is known for its wonderfully diverse population and the SpectaculArts Carnival will bring the town’s communities together for a town-wide carnival celebration. The parade throughout the town centre will be a moving show, featuring actors, musicians, storytellers, audience participation, street performers and spoken word, culminating in a festival in Bedford Park.
