Bury-St-Edmunds2Only have 48 hours to enjoy the best of the Suffolk historic market town, Bury St Edmunds? Fear not, we’ve pulled together some ideas for how to pack everything into a weekend or short break.

Day 1

Arrived on a Wednesday or a Saturday? There’s only one way to spend your afternoon…meandering through the produce market. Dating back to 945 the market now has over 80 stalls packed full of fresh food and drink for you to try nibble on the move or buy to take home.

Burn off some of the calories eaten during your trip through the market with a wander over to the old side of town. See the cathedral in all its glory, move onto the Medieval quarter of the town and finally have a wander through the Abbey Gardens.

Check into the beautiful 4-star boutique hotel, The Angel (www.theangel.co.uk) for the night. Filled with curiosities, pop art and eccentric oddities, with a touch of luxury, you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep in the upmost comfort.

Head out for dinner at Casa Del Mar (www.casadelmar.co.uk) with sharing tapas and meze dishes, which means you can try a little of everything. If you are looking for something different, there are plenty of dining options in Bury St Edmunds from formal to fun.

The Regency Playhouse and The Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds have a great programme of shows and performances, so why not see if there’s something that takes your fancy during your stay?

Day 2Daz-Bury-St-Edmunds

After a delicious breakfast at The Angel Hotel, it’s time to head out into Bury St Edmunds once again.

Visit Clarice House (www.claricehouse.co.uk) for some well-deserved pampering with spa days starting at £79 per person or enjoy a treatment of your choice from the choices available.

After a busy day of relaxation, head into town and enjoy afternoon tea at Harriets Café Tea Rooms (www.harrietscafetearooms.co.uk) in the old Cornhill Buildings. Try the celebration tea for £24.95 per person which includes a glass of champagne along with a delicious afternoon tea.
