Continuing the sea theme, the discovery of the Sutton Hoo Burial Ship in 1939 was one of the most important in Anglo Saxon history. The 27-metre ship dragged up from the River Deben just along from Saxmundham, contained a massive haul from the times including gilded helmets and swords which told the story of the Anglo Saxon kings of the time. A must-see for all the family. Visit nationaltrust.org.uk for details of tours and how to get the most from your visit.
