Bury St Edmunds music venue the apex goes from strength to strength

The apex is the music, entertainment, business and community venue in Bury St Edmunds.

Situated in the arc shopping centre, it offers a wide variety of events in the centre of town and has been named as one of the top 100 venues in the country by PRS.

From classical music to pop, rock, jazz, blues, world, country and folk, the apex delivers a diverse programme of music, and also hosts the monthly Fat Cat Comedy Club and offers many free events throughout the year.

Recent sold out shows include, Mumford & Sons, The Levellers, The Fashion Fusion Show, The Searchers and Wilko Johnson.

This autumn’s packed programme includes visits by Turin Brakes (12 Oct), Dodgy (pictured, 27 Oct), The Blockheads (2 Nov), Ralph McTell (11 Nov) and Joe Brown (6 Dec). There will also be an extensive series of classical, world music and jazz concerts.


Since opening in October 2010 The apex has gone from strength to strength growing its programme to support various musical genres and achieving many awards for its stunning design and architecture together with accolades from artists and bands alike for its impressive facilities and acoustics.

This passion for live music and entertainment has now seen The apex placed 79th in the rankings (from a list of 7000) of Britain's best music venues, compiled by PRS for Music as part of their recent research programme.

"The apex team have worked hard to establish the venue as a significant national touring venue and this latest accolade reflects those efforts positioning us as the top venue for music in the region", says venue director Tony Doherty.

"We are delighted that we have reached such a high pinnacle in a relatively short period and look forward to further growth of our reputation in the months and years ahead".

The contemporary art gallery and coffee bar are open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, for visitors to enjoy a drink and relax in the comfortable sofas and beautiful surroundings. Alongside the extensive entertainment programme, The apex is also available for hire. With flexible facilities, including a unique moveable floor in the main auditorium which can be configured for various layouts, and 2 studio rooms, the venue is perfect for all occasions, including meetings, banquets, conferences, exhibitions, product launches or parties.
