Eastlife’s favourite Christmas films

Christmas is finally here, let the festivities begin…starting with a Christmas film!

Nothing says Christmas quite like the family sitting down together to watch a Christmas film.

By now we presume the presents are wrapped and you’re working your way through the chocolates. Before kids head off for bed, which Christmas film will you be putting on the box?

The office was divided when we had a vote of favourite. Here are the Eastlife teams top picks:

  1. Elf

“Smiling is my favourite.” How can you not love Buddy the Elf? After inadvertently wreaking havoc on the elf community due to his ungainly size, Buddy, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the U.S. in search of his true identity.

  1. A Christmas Carol

Everyone loves a Christmas tale and it wouldn’t quite be Christmas without this classic. Whether it’s the original or 2009 Jim Carrey version, it’s one to watch.

  1. Miracle on 34th Street

A film for any age that puts the magic back into Christmas. When a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalised as insane, a young lawyer decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing – it’s enough to make you believe.

  1. Home Alone

The 1990 Macaulay Culkin film is still a hit year after year. The story of an 8-year-old boy who is accidentally left behind while his family flies to France for Christmas must defend his home against idiotic burglars – fun for all the family.

  1. Love Actually

Richard Curtis hits the spot with this lovable Christmas film that follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London.
