Wrap up warm and have a fun festive day out at a Christmas market. We’ve picked the best Christmas markets taking place in Hertfordshire. 

Knebworth Christmas Gift Fair, 8-10 November

Knebworth House, Knebworth, SG3 6PY

Entry: Friday £4 in advance / £5 on the gate, Sat/Sun – £6.50 in advance/£7.50 on the gate. Ages 18 & under free.

A truly festive event; browse crafts, gifts, food & drink stalls. Chat with designers and craftsmen and sample delicious food. The fair takes place in the heated Lytton, Cobbold, Manor and Lodge Barns and marquees.

Hertford Christmas Gala, 22 November, 3.30pm-8pm

Hertford Town Centre


Free entry.

The annual Christmas Gala event will feature a Christmas market, street entertainment, performance stage, fairground rides, Christmas grotto and Christmas tree light switch on. 3.30pm-8pm.

Harpenden Christmas Carnival and Farmers Market, 24 November, 12pm-6pm

Harpenden High Street

A spectacular event in Harpenden High Street, encompassing a carnival procession, charity stalls, a Farmers’ Market, switching on of the Town’s Christmas lights, fairground rides and festive shopping.

Hoddesdon Loves Christmas, 30 November, 10am-6pm

Town centre

Free entry.

The town’s streets will be filled with stalls, entertainment and the sounds of Christmas! The event concludes with a Christmas parade and fireworks in the town centre.

Redbourn Christmas Market, 1 December, 11am-5pm

High Street, Redbourn

Free entry

The streets of the town will be filled with over 100 stalls and Christmas cheer. Tuck into delicious, warming food, visit Father Christmas at the grotto, listen to carols and shop ‘til you drop.

Ware Dickensian Evening, 6 December, 6pm-10pm

A hugely popular event. Crowds will gather in the High Street as residents and local businesses celebrate the start of the Christmas period! Expect a buzzing atmosphere and festive entertainment.

Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre, 7 December, 9.30am-4.30pm

North Street, Potter Street, Market Square and South Street, Bishop’s Stortford

A festive filled day out with plenty to entertain families. There will be  reindeer, fun fair, live music and characters from popular fiction. The event will include a festive edition of the weekly Saturday Market and the Farmers and Craft Market.

St Albans Charter Market’s Christmas season, 15-24 December

Charter Market, St Albans

A highlight of the city’s festive events will be the launch of the highly-popular Charter Market’s Christmas season on Sunday 15 December with live music and other entertainment. The Market will then run every day, instead of the usual Wednesday and Saturday, finishing on Christmas Eve on Tuesday 24 December.
