Demi Lovato kicks off summer season at Newmarket Nights

Newmarket Nights is perfect for a day and evening out in the summer. Get dressed up in your glad rags, and head to the racecourse, nestled within the beautiful countryside for some great British horseracing and live music.

July Course

Firstly, the course was easy to find, and well sign posted, which is very helpful for someone like me, who is prone to getting lost! There was plenty of parking for the premier enclosure, and it was only a short walk to get into the event.

Once I was in, I was surprised to see how big and spacious the layout was, and how many bars, food carts and restaurants were on offer. There were gin bars and Pimm’s carts scattered across the venue, which meant you never had to queue long for a drink! Coffee bars and soft drinks were on offer too. There was a wide range of food choices, from fish and chips to Mexican, as well as numerous ice cream vans, which proved to be popular with the kids!

Once I had a Pimm’s in my hand, we ventured off to find the racecourse. In the premier enclosure there were benches overlooking the track (particularly handy when your heels are sinking into the ground!) as well as plenty of space at the fence if you want to get a closer look. When the heavens decided to open, and it began to rain, we took cover under the seated area next to the stage. There was plenty of room for everyone. With around 20 stands to put your bets on, all within the enclosure, it meant you didn’t have to walk far and kept queuing to a minimum.

Shortly after the last race finished, Heart Radio station DJ, Toby Anstis got the crowd warmed up before American sensation Demi Lovato and her army of dancers made it to the stage. With hands already in the air, kids on shoulders, and the crowd roaring, Lovato entered the stage. She sang her well-known songs, such as ‘Heart Attack’ and ‘Daddy Problems’, and the crowd sang along. The lighting and stage effects all added to the energetic atmosphere.

When it was time to leave, we made it back to the carpark, and was guided out by the traffic attendant. We were out in no time at all!

All in all, we had a fantastic day at the races, and I’m already looking at booking my ticket for the next event!
