History was made at London Stansted (STN) last week (Friday 8 June 2018), as Emirates celebrated the inaugural flight of its new daily service from Dubai (DXB).
For the first time, residents in the East of England can now fly direct to Dubai and beyond via 155 connecting flights. The launch of the highly anticipated flight means travel to destinations such as China, Australia and India will be easier than ever before from the East.
Excitement filled the air at the celebratory event on Friday 8 June 2018, as the brand new Emirates Boeing 777-300ER touched down at London Stansted. It is the seventh UK airport from which Emirates operates.
Not only does the route make travel for residents easier but it also is a significant connection for bringing business relations to the Eastern region. Hubert Frach, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations West said: “There’s been a real appetite for increased connectivity between the thriving business community in the East of England and our global network too. The new gateway will support the swell of new start-ups, SMEs and established businesses in the London Stansted Cambridge Corridor by giving them access to new cities and countries across the globe.”
London Stansted recently revealed its plans to be London’s fastest growing airport with a £600m investments and plans for a separate arrival and departure terminals.
Ken O’Toole, London Stansted’s CEO, said: “The addition of the new Emirates service will provide a further boost to our long haul ambitions and ultimately save local passengers valuable time and money that is associated with flying from other airports across London.”
In true Emirates style, the new aircraft is the height of luxury comprising of fully enclosed first class suites with ceiling to floor sliding doors, think a mini bedroom with state-of-the-art equipment and style in the air.
Business class is spacious providing plenty of space for passengers to relax and features a mini bar and entertainment system.
The aircraft also sports newly-designed seats and upgraded inflight entertainment systems in all cabins. The 306 seats in Economy have been given a stylish Champagne and green colour scheme, more leg room than your usual aircraft, a USB and socket charging point and a 13.3 inch screen complete with an updated entertainment system offering up to 250 channels – you certainly won’t be bored on this flight!
The daily flight from Dubai (DXB) to London Stansted (STN) departs Dubai at 09:30hrs and arrives in London Stansted at 14:10hrs. The return flight departs London Stansted at 21:10hrs and is scheduled to arrive in Dubai at 07:05hrs.
