Chelmsford Christmas Lights, 17 November

There’s a city wide lighting and effects display, but as change from the usual format of inviting a ‘Celeb’ to perform the switch-on ceremony, this year the honour will fall on the winners of Chelmsford’s community CM1STMAS Awards. www.chelmsfordforyou.co.uk/chelmsford-awards

Leigh-on-Sea, 29 November, 5-8pm

Watch the parade spread its festive cheer. It departs from King’s Road at 6.30pm, and will travel along Leigh Road, Broadway and finishes at Broadway West, at approx. 7.30pm. Brentwood, 30 November, 12.30pm-6pm

The High Street will be closed for fun and festivities including live entertainment, stalls from local traders and fair ground rides, finishing with the light switch on at dark. 

Halstead, 30 November, 4.30pm

Expect a visit from father Christmas and a snow machine to add to the festive fun.
