Flatford Mill

Flatford Mill in South Suffolk is one of 17 Field Centres throughout the UK run by the Field Studies Council.  Our Centre lies in the Dedham Vale on the banks of the River Stour on the Suffolk-Essex borders.  The Centre buildings, particularly the Mill and Willy Lott’s House, are instantly recognisable since they feature in many paintings by the great landscape painter John Constable.

The rich mosaic of lowland landscapes, wildlife habitats and places of historic interest in this beautiful part of East Anglia are all reflected in the Centre's wide-ranging programme of environment and art-based courses for adult learners.

The Centre offers a much sought-after sense of tranquillity to complement a unique learning environment, so join us to improve a skill or learn a new one in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, surrounded by like-minded people.
