Calling all foodies! Get your taste buds going with our pick of the best summer food and drink festivals in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk 

Maldon Beer & Cider Festival, 10-13 April

Upper Plume School, Fambridge Road, Maldon

There will be more than 60 beers and 16 ciders, with over 40 beers from Yorkshire for you to try at the Maldon Beer Festival. Prior to the event, if you visit over 20 local pubs in the Ale Trail, you will win prizes at the festival.

The Gin & Rum Festival, 12-13 April

Chelmsford Cathedral, Essex

Learn more about your favourite tipple. There’s over 60 different gins and 60 different rums, themed bars and masterclasses.


Spring Beer Festival, 4-5 May

Chelmsford City Racecourse

From 12-8pm, you can sip and taste over 60 different beers and ciders from around the world. Don’t miss live music from FUNK2K on the Saturday and a performance from The Bavarian Stompers on Sunday.

Ely Food & Drink Festival, 5-6 May

Ely, Cambs

Rounding up Ely’s Eel Festival is the ever popular two day Food and Drink Festival. Over 75 artisan and specialist food and drink traders will be showcasing their wares. There’s a great Street Food Scene, plus beer tent and cocktail bar with some easy listening, live music to enjoy.

EAT Cambridge, 11 May

Multiple Cambridge venues 

The annual Eat Cambridge Festival returns with a huge food fair, followed by two weeks of foodie events. The festival celebrates Cambridgeshire’s delicious independent food scene. Highlights include pop-ups and supper clubs, food and wine tastings, cookery lessons, chef talks and demos alongside plenty of other things to tickle your taste buds.

Crab & Lobster Festival, 18-19 May 

Cromer and Sheringham

The festival is dedicated to promoting the areas local seafaring heritage and active fishing community. The fun starts on Friday night with a traditional seaside variety concert at the Famous Pier Pavilion Theatre in Cromer and continues over the weekend on Evington Lawns in Cromer. The festival celebrates local restaurants, chefs, crafts, chutney’s, jams, cakes, charcuterie and so much more. Experience all that the Norfolk Coast has to offer.

46th Cambridge Beer Festival, 20-25 May

Jesus Green, Cambridge

The oldest CAMRA beer festival and one of the largest in the country. Expect plenty of variety and a buzzing atmosphere!

Norwich City of Ale, 23 May – 2 June


Over 40 welcoming city pubs await you, serving the region’s finest ales that are often matched with seasonal local produce. Follow the ale trail or try a tasting or tour.

Bedford Cheese & Chilli Festival, 25-26 May

Bedford Park, Park Ave, Bedford MK41 7SS

A must visit for anyone who loves cheese. There’s a huge choice to sample and buy, and an opportunity to learn more from the experts. The chilli festival offers the chance to sample and purchase chilli in all forms such as fresh, plants and sauce! The event includes live music, free cookery demos, tastings, children’s activities and more. It’s one not to be missed!

Mersea Food & Drink Festival, 25 May

Rewsalls Lane, East Mersea

A celebration of the food and drink for which the area has often become famous for producing. Expect plenty of oysters & tasty seafood!

Taste of Sudbury Food & Drink Festival, 9 June

St Peter’s Church and Market Hill, Sudbury

Enjoy watching some of Suffolk’s best foodie talent in cookery demonstrations, tuck into great local produce on Market Hill as it is filled with stalls, stands, funky vans and more selling delicious food. Pop into St Peter’s Church to explore over 30 of the finest small-scale artisan producers.

The Prosecco and Gin Festival, 22 June

OPEN Norwich

The festival comes to Norwich for the first time serving up over 60 gins and a great selection of sparkling wines and prosecco. It’s the perfect summer event to enjoy with friends!

Oundle Food Festival Street Market, 22 June

Town Centre, Oundle

The Oundle Food Festival has become a highlight in the local foodies’ diaries. Over 75 stallholders will gather in the town centre and there’s also events, special menus, product launches and offers in the week before the market. Try a range of beers and ales from local producers.

Peterborough Italian Festival, 6-7 July

City Centre, Peterborough

There’s no need to pack your suitcase for an Italian escape this summer as a little piece of Italy lands in Peterborough’s city centre. Think of everything the Italians do well…pizza, pasta, wine, coffee, gelato…you’ll find it here!

TASTE Bedford, 13 July

Mill Meadows, Bedford

Bedford’s annual food and music festival returns to Mill Meadows with more street food, food demos, local producers, live music and more kids’ activities than ever before. This hugely popular event is a great day out for all the family. It’s free to attend. Just make sure you go hungry!

Essex Festival of Food & Drink, 13-14 July

Cressing Temple, Braintree, Essex

A must visit for all foodies! Three stages will host chef demonstrations with local and celebrity chefs including Rosemary Shrager. There’s two outdoor food courts, over 150 producers, artisan foods, a children’s cookery school, tastings, live music and much more.

The Great British Food Festival, 20-21 July

Knebworth House, Hertfordshire

The festival brings together artisan producers, scrumptious street food and a selection of bars. Top up your culinary skills in the cookery demos or watch warriors take on the Men v Food challenges. Chill to soothing live music while the children try their hand at a cookery lesson before going off to make giant bubbles or learn circus skills!

Sandringham Food & Drink Festival, 3-4 August

Sandringham Estate, Norfolk

National and local producers are brought together to offer the very best in street food and retail accompanied with a craft village bringing you a mix of quality artists, designers and craftsmen demonstrating their skills.

The Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival, 25-26 August

Town Centre, Bury St Edmunds

With an annual line-up of cooking demonstrations from top celebrity chefs, the chance to taste and purchase food and drink from over 100 traders and a popular farmer’s market, this is a foodie’s heaven.

Annual Wine Festival, 31 August-1 September

New Hall Vineyards, Chelmsford Road, Purleigh, Essex

The event offers so much more than wine with a programme of events for the whole family to enjoy. There will be live music, open winery, vineyard tours, handmade craft stalls, locally produced snacks and hot food, free kids’ craft barn, bubble show, beer & bubbles bar, dance acts and more.

St Albans Food and Drink Festival, 28 September-7 October

City Centre, St Albans

A celebration of the local food scene with tastings and demos.

Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival, 28-29 September

Snape Maltings, Suffolk

This year’s festival will have over 100 producers taking part in the two-day event, the focal point of a two-week food-related fringe programme. The popular Hill Farm Family Meadow will be at Snape again as will the Adnams’ Drinks Experience and the Wild Suffolk area. Chef appearances will be announced soon!
