The Royal Wedding: Recreating the Modern Day Fairytale with Weddingly
As well as the beauty and elegance we might expect from a Royal Wedding, Harry and Meghan incorporated a real element of modernity and style into their big day. If you loved every moment and are looking to capture the same magic at your own wedding, Weddingly, the brand new platform dedicated to connecting couples and wedding vendors with style and ease, have shown us how to do it. Re-create the modern day fairytale using real life wedding vendors from across the East.
Meghan wowed the world in a stunningly timeless gown, by Givenchy. If you loved the minimalist styling of it, Alan Hannah, award-winning bridal designers based in Enfield and stocked in bridal boutiques across the country, might just have the perfect dress for you. ‘Chloe’, from the Porcelain collection, is crafted from a similar starchy, satin fabric we saw Meghan in, giving the simple silhouette some structure and emphasising it’s sophisticated elegance.
If it was the wide bateau neck just easing over the edge of each shoulder and the three quarter length sleeves that you loved, then you might prefer Alan Hannah’s Liberty dress. More akin to Meghan’s engagement dress, by Ralph and Russo, we love the texture and shape of this particular gown.
If it was Meghan’s evening dress that you loved, then this Sassi Holford gown from The Bride, in St. Albans, is definitely worth a look. It’s still simple and classic in style, but the softer fabric gives the dress more movement. Plus, just as Meghan went for a halter-neck style for her second dress, this gown’s spaghetti straps and backless design flashes a little more skin.
If you loved how Meghan accessorized her simple and elegant look with a glittering tiara, then find your own dream wedding hair accessory from Claire Austin England. Whilst we don’t all have diamond heirlooms to call on for our styling needs, Claire can create something bespoke to you, and give it that touch of sparkle with Swarovski Crystals.
The Hair and Make Up
Opting for a natural make-up look similar to her usual style, the newlywed had fresh glowing skin that showed off her natural freckles, brown smokey eyeshadow that accentuated her brown eyes and a pop of pink on her lips. For a similarly fresh and natural look, how about something like this, from talented Hair and Make Up artist, Charlotte Jay.
Whilst Harry opted to go traditional for the ceremony, in Blues and Royals Military, we loved the sleek and stylish tux he wore for the evening reception. Could he and Meghan have looked any more fabulous as they pulled away in that convertible? For the same effortlessly stylish and formal look, let Cerimonia, menswear and bridalwear specialists in St. Albans, get you suited and booted.
Meghan and Harry’s floral choices were just phenomenal. The giant displays of gorgeous green foliage decorated with creamy blooms were an unforgettable and super modern approach to wedding floristry. Foxgloves and Alice created something similar for a real wedding just a few weeks ago. We love this outdoors-brought-indoors look.
As for the bouquet, Meghan opted for something on the smaller side; soft, subtle and delicate. Another of Weddingly’s florists, Urban Flower Farmers, has worked up something very similar, for this simple but intricate wild flower bouquet.
