The Big Weekend in Hitchin

The Big Weekend returns on Saturday 9 December. Guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit it will feature The Santa Express Landtrain, a giant snowglobe and Santa’s grotto – he’ll be arriving in style on the Market Place with a reindeer procession at 12.20pm. Add in street entertainers and more festive entertainment, and you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to the North Pole – lets just hope it’s not as cold! The event will hopefully allow you to finish (or start) your Christmas shopping with late night shopping until 8pm.

The fun continues on Sunday 10 December with Independents Christmas Shopping Day. It’s a chance to support the local community and traders and buy gifts from local businesses and craftsmen. As you shop, the choir will sing and the day is rounded off with a lantern procession at 4pm followed by carols around the Christmas tree with Churches Together and Hitchin Band.

After all that, we’re hoping you’ll finally be ready for Christmas! Click here for more exciting events in Hertfordshire in the lead up to the big day!
