Cambridge’s Midsummer House chef publishes his first book
The two-star Michelin star chef and TV regular, Daniel Clifford, has published his first book, ‘Out of My Tree – Midsummer House’. The brutally honest part autobiography, part cookbook tells the story of the chef’s life, starting from the struggles he had as a child from a broken home, to the bully boy tactics he experienced when he was just starting out as a chef, to how he has become a successful business man and chef today. As well as an autobiography, the book features over 140 recipes. It will be available at the Midsummer House restaurant in Cambridge, as well as on the website, priced £45. www.midsummerhouse.co.uk.

Sourdough pizza restaurant opens in Cambridge
Sourdough pizza pioneer, Franco Manca has announced the launch of its Cambridge pizzeria. Bringing Neapolitan pizza to the city of Cambridge, the pizza provider has celebrated its arrival by collaborating with local talent, Sofia Greaves.
A student studying a PhD in Classics at the University of Cambridge, Sofia was crowned the winner of Franco Manca’s illustrator competition earlier this year, the result of which sees her artwork adorn the hoarding of the latest addition to Cambridge’s restaurant-scene.
To celebrate the pizzeria’s opening and Sofia’s illustrations, which were inspired by the culture and heritage of Cambridge itself, from 11 – 17 July 2018 inclusive Franco Manca will be offering all their delicious sourdough pizzas for just £5 – the price of the first pizza on their menu.
Customers will be able to order one of the daily specials or choose from seven regular pizza options, including fan-favourite “the no. 4”, which features Gloucester old spot ham, wild mushrooms and a mix of mozzarella and buffalo ricotta.
Embracing local Cambridge talents further, pizza-lovers visiting Franco Manca will also be able to accompany their meal with one of two guest beers. Produced by BrewBoard, a young Cambridge-based independent craft brewer, the company’s RIPCHORD (a light-gold, multi-hopped Session Pale Ale) and LAKOTA (a light-straw, dry-hopped American Pale Ale) will be available for customers to enjoy.
Located at 15 Market Hill, Cambridge, CB2 3NJ, the pizzeria will open its doors and pizza ovens to Cambridge locals on Wednesday 11 July 2018.

Pearces Farmshop and Café near Buntingford, has opened a ‘Pizzeria’ in a converted horsebox which is located on the meadows below the Café.
This vintage Rice horsebox has been creatively fitted out with an authentic Italian pizza oven where the chef freshly cooks pizzas to order using ingredients sourced from both the Farmshop and as locally as possible. The simple and affordable menu has a choice of six thin-crust pizzas including the popular Margherita and the spicy Diavola or Parma Ham; prices are at £9.95 and £10.95.
A drinks menu is also available. Two further Rice horseboxes have also been converted to provide on-site smart ladies and gents toilets.

intu signs up long-running seafront ice cream shop, Rossi, for intu Lakeside
A legendary ice cream parlour on the Southend seafront has signed up for a site at intu Lakeside.
intu Lakeside has agreed terms with Rossi Ice Creams to launch at the shopping and leisure destination this summer, 86 years after Rossi’s Southend parlour first opened its doors to the public in 1932.
Rossi sits next to artisan baked donut brand, Dum Dum Donut’s an independent British company based in Chelmsford, Essex who offer high quality, natural artisan doughnuts that are baked fresh every day.
Jack Wills will also open at the centre this year, opposite a new Zara store which will be three times as big as its current intu Lakeside shop.
Summer afternoon tea at The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie
