Good to know: Gluten free, Vegetarian, Vegan, Dog-friendly.

This vegan coffee shop is rather instagrammable. Colourful smoothie bowls sit alongside avocado on toast, breakfast sandwiches and cakes. If you’re a coffee lover, it’s one to add to your list; they serve speciality coffees that you can’t find anywhere else. www.facebook.com/pg/Ancestorscoffee

Cherryleaf coffeehouse

Good to know: Gluten free, Vegetarian, Vegan.

Local photographers and artists often display their work in this light and airy Georgian coffeehouse. During the week they offer lighter breakfasts such as porridge and beans on toast. At the weekend they serve their famous full English alongside alternative options. There’s a huge range of coffees, teas and delicious cake too.

Good to know: Gluten free, Vegetarian, Vegan, dogs welcome in the courtyard.

This chilled out cafe bar offers a locally sourced and seasonally changing menu. Dishes such as pancakes or bacon and eggs sit alongside more unusual ones such as Nduja ragu on toast. Sundays are a special affair – there’s a larger menu featuring Full English breakfasts and Bloody Mary’s.

This Adnams pub in the golden triangle serves a selection of brunch classics ranging from pastries to a full English. It’s one of the few places in the city that offers a boozy bottomless brunch at the weekend. Certainly worth the walk or number 25 bus ride! Book a table.

Good to know: Gluten free, Vegetarian, Vegan, Dogs welcome in the raised bar area (recommended to book if you’re dining with a dog)

This prohibition style vegetarian and vegan restaurant and bar is known for incredible cocktails and homemade vegan alternatives to popular meat dishes. Choose between three dishes in the week. At the weekend their pancakes, Mexican hash and mushrooms on toast are joined by an Irish breakfast.

This little gem in the golden triangle has a huge breakfast menu offering locally sourced organic light bites, full breakfasts and healthier options. Tea lovers will be pleased to hear that there are over 50 to choose from! They also run a very popular artisan organic bakery.

Good to know: Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Vegan, Dog-friendly at brunch (not for evening service)

Woolf & Social has a laid back atmosphere with quirky, rustic interior decor. They are well known for their twists on classic British dishes. Their brunch menu is made up of larger plates and smaller ones to share, all created with fresh, local ingredients. Call ahead with dietary requirements so they tailor dishes to you. You can sit outside on a sunny day too!
