‘SLATE’, THE NEW NAME FOR LAWSON’S DELICATESSEN, OPENS IN SOUTHWOLD
Who doesn’t love cheese at Christmas? Opening just in time for the festive season is ‘Slate’, the new name for Lawson’s Delicatessen, which has opened its second shop in Southwold.
Lawson’s Delicatessen has been a much-loved institution on Aldeburgh High Street for years and came under the ownership of Clare Jackson and her father, John Ormerod, in January 2017. The new Southwold shop, close to Adnam’s Cellar and Kitchen, opened at the end of last month and The Aldeburgh shop also reopened after a short closure for full refurbishment. Sure to be a hit with any foodie is both shops’ magnificent ‘wall of cheese’.
Both shops will also offer a range of soups, salads, sausage rolls and frozen meals prepared by its chefs, alongside other delicious delicatessen products.
CORNISH BAKERY, WARRENS, OPENS IN SOUTHEND-ON-SEA, ESSEX
Swapping the Cornish coast for Essex shores, Warren Bakery, Cornwall’s oldest bakery, opened its latest franchise in Southend-on-Sea at the end of last month. To celebrate the opening, the first 20 people to post a photo with their pasty on Southend Pier with #pastyonthepier will win a free lunch!

The latest addition to Bury’s independent retail scene is Castang’s Kitchen, which opened at the end of October. Located on St John’s Street and owned by husband and wife team Jacob and Megan Castang, the store features artisan tableware and handmade kitchen products from around the world and local to Suffolk, suitable for home entertaining, serious foodies and professionals.
