Scaresville – are you brave enough?

Lurking under the night’s twinkling stars is something sinister in Suffolk!

Ghosts, ghouls and ghastly cries can be heard in the dark at Suffolk’s premier Halloween experience this month. Taking place at Kentwell Hall in Long Melford, Scaresville has returned to terrify residents of East Anglia once again, until 3 November.

Nervous energy filled the air in the waiting area as crowds gathered to be called for their turn to enter the maze of scare experiences. The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation as small groups waited, distracted by entertainment such as aerial artists, magic tricks and photo opportunities.

As you walk to the starting point, blood curdling screams can be heard in the distance. My friend and I were placed at the front of our group to lead the way into the pitch black…the kind of darkness where you don’t know if your eyes are open or closed!

We made our way through the darkness, navigating tight corners, low ceilings and narrow corridors to be greeted with horrors from our nightmares. Turn a corner and you’d come face to face with a zombie, masked lunatic or phantom, which guaranteed a scream from the whole group.

There are multiple different areas, rooms and sets, cleverly playing on individual fears. One moment, you’ll find yourself claustrophobic in a hall of mirrors with no obvious way out (this for me was perhaps the scariest) or locked in a pitch black room with a presence lurking, the next, you’ll be lost in a deserted circus or playhouse with creepy clowns or be greeted with the haunting doll faces from your childhood nightmares.

Experiences are both inside and outdoors, which heightens senses and you’ll find yourself on edge and jumping at almost everything. The whole experience lasted approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. We don’t want to spoil it, but at the end you will feel as though you are running for your life…

Is Scaresville worth it? Absolutely. The actors are good and the screams, thrills and laughs aplenty!

Tickets are selling quick so you’ll need to move frighteningly fast to book your place.

Prices: £17.95-£31.95 | www.scaresville.co.uk
