Secret Norfolk: Life in a Fine County
By Nicole Ranaweera
Resist the temptation to stay indoors this November, instead, wrap up warm and enjoy exploring Norfolk with my top 5 must-have experiences…
1.History Mystery Game (historymysterygame.com/locations/norwich)
The History Mystery team have devised real life history-based escape games which are held in Norwich’s Guildhall, the largest medieval civic building outside of London. You have just one hour to follow the clues and solve the puzzles! Will you escape in time…?
2. See the Seals (friendsofhorseyseals.co.uk)
The North Norfolk coast is a great spot to see literally hundreds of seals when they come ashore to breed each year. Horsey Gap is of course renowned as an excellent spot to get as up close and personal as is safely possible, but if walking is a problem hop on a seal boat trip from Morston Quay or Blakeney .
3.Boating on the Broads (enjoythebroads.com)
Britain’s Magical Waterway truly is Norfolk’s jewel in the crown and the best way to explore has to be by boat! Either hire a boat yourself or book onto one of the many boat tours available. Soak up the nature and views, and if you’re hiring a boat for the day, stop off for lunch at one of the fantastic pubs along the way!
4.Norwich Pub Tour (norwichpubtours.co.uk)
Possibly the best idea for a local guided tour I’ve ever heard of, you can combine history with beer for an entertaining afternoon exploring some of the city’s most famous pubs. Learn the stories and secrets of our fine city with a beer in hand!
5.Take a trip on a Steam Train (nnrailway.co.uk)
The North Norfolk Railway is the perfect way to explore over 10-miles of countryside. With historic stations to stop off on route, this is a great way to hark back to days gone by, travel on vintage trains and enjoy the steamy atmosphere of a bygone age.
