This summer, why not head on down to the Norfolk coast and fire up that portable BBQ to enjoy a burger or two at the beach?
Beach BBQs can be the ultimate summer fun and as Norfolk is renowned for its local produce, there is no need to despair at a supermarket sausage! Instead, head to one of Norfolk’s fantastic farm shops for home-grown seasonal fruits and veg, local meats, cheeses, breads, wines, local beers and more for a beach BBQ to remember!
With such a beautiful stretch of coastline in Norfolk you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to where to go. If you’re looking for something touristy and full of attractions, then Great Yarmouth will be your go-to and you can stock up en-route at Blofield Farm Shop.
If you prefer a more traditional beach, pop into White House Farm in Sprowston, Norwich which is on the way to Wroxham so perfect if you’re heading to either the Broads or the coast – in particular, Happisburgh, Sea Palling, Waxham, Horsey or Winterton. Alternatively Farm to Fork and Fish in Horstead is great if you’re taking a trip to Mundesley, Bacton or Walcott beaches.
On the way to the beautiful beaches of Wells-next-the-Sea, Holkham and Blakeney, stop off at either Arthur Howell in Wells-next-the-Sea, Wiveton Hall Farm Shop in Holt, Back to the Garden in Letheringsett or the original Walsingham Farm Shop in Little Walsingham
Further west along the coast, Brancaster or Sunny Hunny are very popular choices and you’ll find farm shops at either the other Walsingham Farm Shops branch, housed in the Barn at Norfolk Lavender in Heacham or Drove Orchards, Thornham
Last, but by no means least, don’t forget the all-important beer! Why not support a local Norfolk business, Beers of Europe (www.beersofeurope.co.uk)? They’ve got a fantastic selection, both in-store and online, and can even keep the designated driver happy with an alcohol-free beer or two!
Remember before you go to take a look at North Norfolk’s BBQ Do’s & Don’ts
