Welcome to our latest monthly column; ‘Tails About Town’.
Written by Emma Kemsley
You may have noticed that we’re a team of dog-lovers here at eastlife, and due to the success of our recent dog-friendly section online we’re starting the New Year with a brand new column.
Every month you’ll be able to read the tales and tribulations of my two-year-old cocker spaniel, Fletcher. Adorable, loving and cute, he is the perfect puppy, but behind those big brown soppy eyes is a cheeky character, and a dramatic and demanding dog!
I was going to write this column from his perspective but I thought it would be much more entertaining for you to read the story of my daft and distressing experiences as a spaniel owner, of which there are many!
Obsessed with swimming and sticks, bold and boisterous, Fletcher bounces through life oblivious to the devastation he causes, and I’m often left picking up the pieces. Let me give you a taster of my scenarios from the last few months; I watched him destroy a campsite before I could reach him, taking out tents, a water butt, and a table and chairs without a second thought. I’ve been left crying in a forest in the pouring rain for an hour while he decided to go on a five-mile deer chase. He has stopped traffic during rush hour by pooping in the middle of a main road and most recently stopped crowds in their tracks with his howling at the Lavenham Christmas Market when he decided to take a dislike to the dressed-up characters of Mickey, Goofy and Olaf!
I hope you find this column amusing and that it puts a smile on your face, but more than that, this column is the beginning of our new monthly dog-friendly section, which recognises the hotels, restaurants and businesses throwing a bone for us dog-owners and welcoming our furry friends with open arms.
From doggy days out and restaurant recommendations to wonderful walks and top tips, this section is a must read every month for barking mad dog-owners, just like me!
