Whether you are looking for a fun family day out, luxury retreat by the green, becoming a member at a club or looking for a new challenge, we list the best golf courses so you know what to expect.

Heydon Grange Golf & Country Club

Heydon, Nr Royston, Cambridge

Heydon Grange is perfect for winter or spring golf as there are no temporary greens here. Situated just a few miles from Cambridge, the club boasts 27 holes and is open to members, societies and Pay and Play visitors. This club has not one but three ladies open days hosted in July, August and October. You need a full handicap to enter, so it’s not for the faint hearted, but you will find some of the most challenging tournaments in the UK, here. Memberships are also available. www.thetfordgolfclub.co.uk

Fynn Valley Golf Club

Witnesham, Ipswich, Suffolk

Ladies as well as gents are welcome at this club, which focuses not just on the skill of the sport but also the social side. You can pay as you go or sign up to a membership. If you are new to the fairway, England Golf is an online gateway to thousands of golf courses around the UK. The search tool helps you to find local courses, women only teams, children’s teams and much more.

You can get involved in competitions and new teams. All teams and lessons are provided by ex-golf professionals and accredited coaches. They also teach the theory behind golf so you know the rules before you set foot on the fairway.

With all of these recommendations you’ll be able to avoid the bunkers and achieve that hole in one!
