This year there’s German beer, Gluhwein and traditional German market stalls, manned by teams in traditional German costumes. Plus festive food, gifts and decorations.

Essex Christmas Jewellery Fair, 10-Nov

 Channels Christmas Market, 23 November

Pratts Farm Lane, East Little Waltham, Chelmsford,CM3 3PT

There will be stalls offering original handmade gifts, vintage offerings and festive decorations will be on offer on the Friday from 12pm – 3pm and again from 4pm until 9pm. Santa will be popping by on his sleigh at 5pm and will be manning his grotto from 6pm until 9pm. It’s not just for the kids though as they’ll be plenty of live music, festive food, mulled wine and more.

Doggie’s Christmas Party, 24 November

It might sound barking, but due to last year’s success, the Doggie’s Christmas Party returns on Saturday 24 November at 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm. The party includes festive stalls with doggy gifts, a pet photographer, dog display team and a professional dog groomer. Find out more here:

Saffron Walden Christmas Street Market, 25 November

The Market Square in Saffron Walden will be turning into a winter wonderland for one day, the same day as the Christmas light switch on. From 11am until 5pm, there’ll be food, drink, music and of course entertainment including a screening of Frozen at the Town Hall.

Chelmsford’s Continental Street Market, 25 November

Bond Street, Chelmsford

Chelmsford’s stylish shopping area, hosts a Continental Market for one special day on 25 November. There’ll be stalls selling homeware and art, Italian nibbles and Gluwein, with entertainment, Santa and more. Opening at 9am until 6pm with official opening by the Mayor of Chelmsford at 10am, the event is being run by Chelmsford City Council with Mencap, supporting local charities.

Maldon Vintage Christmas Fair, 29 November

Enjoy the nostalgia for Christmas with this wonderful fair. The Christmas light switch on will kick start the festivities which include stalls selling crafts, gifts and food, a chance for little ones to meet Santa, festive entertainment, choirs and more.

Hylands Estate Christmas Frost Fair, 30 Nov, 10am-5pm

This wonderful new Christmas fair has over 120 exhibitors showing original crafts and gifts, plus fine foods direct from local suppliers. Dressed as a traditional frost fair, local entertainers will perform through the day, plus Father Christmas is on hand to collect the all-important lists!

Christmas in Leigh on Sea, 30 Nov, from 5pm

When the town the switches on its Christmas lights, there will be late night shopping, a craft market, the Yuletide Parade at 6.30pm, live music and more.

Braxted Park Christmas Market, 1-2 December

Braxted Park Estate,, Great Braxted, Witham CM8 3EN

Braxted Park launches its inaugural Christmas Market to showcase outstanding local businesses and artisan producers. The park is usually closed to the public, so this event also offers a rare opportunity to see the house and 500 acres of parklands, woodland and gardens hidden behind the wall.

There will be local food and drink available to enjoy at the market, as well as wine and spirit tastings provided by the team behind Maldon District Council’s Grape & Grain Trail. Younger visitors to the market will be able to visit Mrs Christmas’s Kitchen to decorate an edible treat to take home, and some of Father Christmas’s reindeer will be paying the estate a visit throughout the two days.

Over the weekend The Cookery School at Braxted Park will be opening its doors for exclusive hands-on cookery workshops with celebrated chef Tim Maddams (River Cottage).  Tickets for these workshops are £10 and are available from The Braxted Park Christmas Market is free to attend.
