The Cambridge Scene: foodPark

This month blogger Tracey Dean has a taste of the Cambridge foodPark

NIGHT MARKET 9.5.2015 - photo credit Charley Mckie-RiethoffCambridge has a vibrant street food scene with the foodPark being a hub to try a variety of delicious foods from around the world.

The foodPark hosts regular pop up street food markets taking place across the city each week and can be found at the Universities West Cambridge site (Wednesday 12pm-2pm) the Cambridge Science Park (Thursdays 12pm to 2pm) and the CB1 development near the train station ( Fridays 12pm-2pm).

It features the likes of The Churros Bar  that those with a sweet tooth will love! They serve up mouthwatering churros made from locally sourced ingredients with a choice of homemade dips including salted caramel and Belgium milk chocolate. The foodPark is also a great place to try something completely new such as authentic Austrian food at Holy Schnitzel. Their schnitzels are pan cooked to order and served in a kaiser roll made by a local Artisan Baker.

If you can’t make it down in the day Saturday 27 May sees the foodParks first night market of the year from 5pm to 10pm. It includes amazing street food, music provided by DJs and also bars serving beer, cocktails and more. Tickets for this event are available here

May also sees the foodPark taking part in Takeover Nights at the Blue Moon pub in Cambridge. On Thursday 4 May a different brewery will take over the taps for the night with foodPark trader The Wandering Yak providing the tasty food. The Wandering Yak are an award-winning street food van serving up delicious handmade plant based healthy food. Their flavours are inspired by the Middle East and delights include mezze boxes, stuffed pittas and double fried sweet potato fries.

On Thursday 1 June this event will be happening again but this time with burger trader Steak and Honour in attendance. They are instantly recognisable by their retro Citroen H vans and having been created by Michelin trained chefs you can expect a high quality burger in a tasty brioche bun!
