Valentine’s Day dates in Cambridge

Take a look at what the beautiful city of Cambridge has to offer to ensure your Valentine’s Day is a day to remember.

Mathematical bridge, Cambridge, UK

If you’re looking for a romantic date idea to treat that special someone a Valentine’s punting tour may just be the answer. This private tour along the River Cam run by Scudamore’s will allow you to see the charming College Backs with your loved one whilst you keep warm with the hot water bottles and cosy blankets provided. The tour lasts for thirty minutes and also includes your very own tour guide and a romantic long stemmed rose. Read our guide to punting in Cambridge.

Spend the evening getting to know each other at a cocktail bar. There’s no shortage of stylish bars in Cambridge. Most are hidden in swanky hotels, with grand bars and cosy corners. Stop by Parker’s Tavern at The University Arms with its grand interiors, think shiny brass, historic fireplaces and buttery tan leather chairs. SIX at The Varsity Hotel offers views across the city’s skyline, while The Royal Cambridge Hotel is home to 6 Scroope Terrace’s Gin Bar. Novi on Regent Street specialises in botanical cocktails and has a trendy roof terrace too.

If a flower bouquet is more what you have in mind order from independents such as Cambridge Floral Designs and Clare Kenward Flowers. Both have a beautiful selection of valentines arrangements. Alternatively sign up your loved one up to a floristry workshop or course at The Cambridge Flower School, where they’ll learn how to perfect a beautiful bouquet or flower arrangement.

From grand hotels with swanky restaurants, small cosy bistros and Michelin-star food, you’ll be spoilt for choice for a dinner date. Cambridge’s restaurant scene is booming with a diverse mix of cuisine. Discover authentic Italian food, Spanish tapas at Mercado Central, vegetarian and vegan options and fine dining at Midsummer House and Restaurant Twenty Two.

Fancy a romantic walk? Cambridge is the perfect location. Wander around the cobbled streets, exploring hidden alleyways that lead to secret gardens. Admire the city’s beautiful colleges and architecture. Warm up as you wander with a coffee from one of the many independent retailers. Check out our favourite winter walks.
