The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie will be celebrating the rich heritage of Cambridge alongside one of the city’s most famous residents with a ‘month of inspiration.’
Launching on Isaac Newton’s birthday, on Friday, 4 January, guests will be able to enjoy a month of specially crafted cocktails, prizes and the sharing of knowledge and inspiration via a beautiful installation.
Isaac Newton, best known for formulating the laws of motion and universal gravity, was a fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge, and so the restaurant has commissioned a striking apple ‘Inspiration Tree’ installation which will take centre stage in the heart of the restaurant.
From 4 January to 8 February, each guest dining in the brasserie will be presented with a notelet, offering them the option to write an inspirational quote, fact or piece of knowledge. Each note will then hang from the ‘Inspiration Tree’ for other guests to read, enjoy and pass on to others, including those living, working or visiting the city.
In further celebration of Isaac Newton’s birthday, those dining from the set menu from Monday to Friday will be in with the chance of winning prizes from the restaurant. Presented to the table in a beautiful apple casing, prizes will include dinner for two, afternoon tea for two, and a bottle of Ivy Champagne.
The brasserie’s bar team have also been busy and will be serving up two bespoke apple-inspired cocktails for guests to enjoy. Both delicious and refreshing, diners can choose from either a non-alcoholic Seedlip Spicy Apple (for those participating in dry January) or a Newton’s Flute cocktail.
Incorporating Seedlip Spice, apple juice, pineapple juice, egg white, gingerbread syrup and shaken with a red chilli and a star anise, the Seedlip Spicy Apple will be priced at £6.50, whilst the Newton’s Flute (priced at £6.75) will feature Calvados, lemon juice, maple syrup, a dash of Peychaud’s bitters and topped with Apple cider.
Guests of the restaurant will be able to dine under the ‘Inspiration Tree’s’ beautiful, leafy canopy from Friday, 4 January to Friday, 8 February. Both cocktails will also be available during the same time period, whilst the set menu will be available Monday to Friday, from 11.30am to 6.30pm.
