If you’re unsure how to treat her, I’ve rounded up a few activities that are happening across the region – take your pick!

The Woburn Hotel, Bedfordshire

Ickworth Hotel, Suffolk
For a similar experience, enjoy the beautiful atmosphere within the Ickworth House tea room. Call ahead for dietary requirements such as gluten free. They were very accommodating to my gluten intolerance during my visit. Prices are £21.50 per adult, £10.75 per child.

Ware Priory, Hertfordshire
Ware Priory is creating two special events. Either treat Mum to a delicious Three Course Lunch or a perfect English Afternoon Tea. Lunch is hosted in the Conservatory and includes an assortment of appetisers, a selection of roast meats and the chef’s luxury dessert table followed by tea or coffee. Mum receives a glass of prosecco and a gift. Price per adult is £30 and children, aged 11 and under £15. Afternoon Tea takes place in The Priory Hall and guests can choose from a range of finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries and scones accompanied by a pot of refreshing English tea. The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridgeshire

This is an idea for the dads that want to treat mum with the kids. Colchester Zoo is a guaranteed family friendly activity, with a handy café and play area onsite. So pencil this in your diary – she need not know your pre-arranged plan until the morning!
