The Cambridge Scene: Try something new in Cambridge
Written by Tracey Dean (www.traceydean.co.uk)
The start of the New Year is the perfect time to begin a course or activity and Cambridge is packed full of opportunities to hone or learn a brand new skill.
Here are my top 10 things to try for 2018 in Cambridge:
1) Learn a new language at La Dante
Kickstart the New Year by learning a new language at La Dante based in Hawthorn Way, Cambridge. It’s a fantastic not-for-profit cultural association with Italian and Spanish courses for all ages and abilities. It’s also a great place to meet new people with their fun-packed social events such as cinema screenings and cooking classes! www.ladante-in-cambridge.org
2) Relax at CamYoga
If your New Year’s resolution is to feel more relaxed yoga could be what you’re looking for. CamYoga have a number of yoga studios located in Cambridge offering over 100 classes a week including hot yoga and classes especially for beginners. www.camyoga.co.uk
3) Write your own novel!

4) Sing in a choir
Warm up those vocal chords and join a contemporary choir based in Cambridge. Vocal Remix are a current and up-to-date choir where no auditioning is required. It’s all about having fun so why not attend a free taster session and see if it’s for you! www.vocalremix.co.uk

They sell a range of musical instruments including orchestral, pianos and acoustic and electric guitars. www.millersmusic.co.uk
6) Get dancing at the Body Work Company
Dance up a storm by attending one of the many adult dance classes at the Body Work Company. They have over 35 years’ experience with everything from ballet to street dance available to learn and enjoy. They also offer a range of fitness classes including the Latin-inspired cardio dance workout Zumba as well as relaxing yoga and Pilates. www.bodyworkcompany.co.uk/adult-dance-and-fitness-class
7) Learn about wine at the Cambridge Wine Merchants
Wine lovers can enjoy learning about their favourite tipple at this one-day course that introduces you to the grape varieties used in wine, styles of wine and the all-important how to taste, store and serve your wine. The course takes place on the 20 or 22 January and if you pass a short exam you will start the year with an internationally recognised qualification.
8) Get cooking at the Cambridge Cookery School
If you would like 2018 to be the year you become the best cook ever then a class at the award-winning Cambridge Cookery School would be ideal! Based off of Hills Road you can learn a variety of classes in a beautifully spacious contemporary kitchen such as a sushi master class or a beginner bread making class. www.cambridgecookery.com
