February is a time to shake off the cobwebs and emerge from our winter blues. There’s no better way to start fresh than heading out this month to discover the region’s flora and fauna that are beginning to spring into action. Here’s our top five locations to enjoy the season…

Discover daffodils at Ickworth House

16 Dairy Cottages, Bury Saint Edmunds IP29 5QE

It wouldn’t be spring without the glowing yellow of a daffodil. The quintessential British spring flower brightens up the historic estate in February with heritage daffodils popping up throughout the pleasure grounds in front of the Italianate palace.

Audley End House and Gardens

Audley End Road, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4JF

Created by the famous 18th century designer Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, the gardens at this historic home are beautiful at any time of year, but during February and March they come alive with vibrant colours of springtime favourites.

Bluebells at Wayland Wood

Norfolk, IP25 6HN

The alleged site of the ‘Babes in the Wood’ legend, has over 125 species of plants recorded but it’s the bluebells that steal the show during spring. The beautiful bluebells pop up through the grounds and are at their best between March and May.
