Things to do in Colchester, Essex
Written by Amanda French (www.anoseforfood.com)
There’s plenty going on in Colchester to ring in 2018, so head out and enjoy some of the great entertainment and events on offer. I’ve picked a few of my favourites:
Make a theatre trip extra special and enjoy the classic, Macbeth, in the surrounds of Colchester Castle on 19 January as the Priory players perform Shakespeare’s play. Tickets are priced £16.52 per person. (www.colchestercastlepark.co.uk)
Enjoy an evening in the company of Michael Parkinson at the Mercury Theatre on 28 January. Michael and his son will discuss highlights from across his career. The night will follow his remarkable journey from a pit village in Yorkshire to becoming one of the most famous men in Britain. (www.mercurytheatre.co.uk)
Laugh your way into the new year with funny woman Katherine Ryan, who will be heading to the Charter Hall in Colchester on 26 January, performing her stand up show, ‘Glitter Room’. Tickets are £22 each. (www.colchester-events.co.uk)
Wivenhoe House (www.wivenhoehouse.co.uk) will be celebrating Burns Night on the 27 January. Enjoy a piper, traditional ceremonies and a four-course meal celebrating the best of traditional Scottish fare such as Haggis, neeps & tatties. Scottish or not, everyone should join in these celebrations. Tickets priced £42.50 per person.
With plenty to keep you occupied in Colchester, there’s no need to go anywhere else for entertainment!
