Places to eat in Ampthill
If you love food, then you’ll love Ampthill. For a small town it boasts an impressive independent food scene. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a bite at the newly opened Cupcake Bar on Church Street. The café serves fluffy cupcakes and tasty cakes alongside refreshments. For something more substantial head to Big 10 Smoke and Grill located on Kings Arms Yard. The restaurant, which opened in March, has already become a hit with locals for its excellent service, tasty cocktails and hearty menu.
For pizza that rivals that found in Italy, visit Donatello’s. This year the Italian restaurant on Dunstable Street celebrates its 37th anniversary. Having received a number of awards over the years, it’s the friendly welcome, laid back atmosphere and delicious dishes that keep locals coming back.
Every town needs a good pub, and Ampthill is no exception. Once an 18th century coaching inn, The White Hart is located in the north of the town on Dunstable Street. The cosy pub, with modern yet rustic interiors, serves food daily from 8am until late. Dishes have a Mediterranean influence and produce is ethically sourced and follows a field to fork initiative. It also features eight boutique bedrooms for those looking to extend their stay.
Whether it’s a day visit or overnight stay, Ampthill is certainly worth a trip this summer!
