Ampthill Rocks

Ampthill RocksIt’s that time of year again where the quiet pretty market town of Ampthill comes alive with the sound of music. This summer legendary 80s band, The Human League, pop sensation, Busted, Britpop group Cast and two leading West End musical stars are headlining this year’s AmpRocks and Ampthill Park Proms to make it one of the best festivals yet in Ampthill.

AmpRocks will kick off the annual festival on Friday 30 June in Ampthill Park with the three internationally renowned groups playing to 6000 people.

On Saturday 1 July, musical fans are in for a treat with Julie Atherton and Oliver Tompsett, who between them have played the lead roles in Wicked, Avenue Q, Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You, signed up to perform and host the evening.

Ampthill Festival chairman Ian Scarr said he was over the moon to have sealed such high profile acts for both nights to perform in a town that ‘consistently punches above its weight’.

He added: “We are delighted to have secured internationally renown artists again for AmpRocks in TheIMG_2215-1 Human League, Busted and Cast. It’s something for everyone and with the tweaks to the festival site, enhanced bar and food concessions, the evening will be great value and the best experience in the region once again.

“The Proms enters its 9th year and with two West End performers alongside the amazingly talented Ampthill Town Band, Redborne Jazz Band an Ampthill Concert Orchestra, again we have punched above our weight as the little town of Ampthill will have another night of classical music to be proud of.”

Gala Day will take place on 2 July. A free community event which takes place from 12.30pm until later afternoon in Ampthill Park, it will feature great music, a parade and stalls from local businesses and charities.

AmpRocks’ tickets sold out in a record 39 minutes this year but there’s still time to snap up some Park Proms tickets, which is promising to be a special night to remember. Ampthill Park Proms tickets start at £18 per adult, £8 per child and £40 for a family.
