What’s on in Felixstowe

The seaside town of Felixstowe situated alongside Ipswich, Aldeburgh and Orford, has a plethora of activities and attractions for all the family.

Visit Suffolk has compiled a list of some of the things you should visit whilst in Felixstowe in 2019!


Felixstowe Pier

A place you cannot miss when you come to the seaside! Today, it is Great Britain’s newest pier after a multi-million pound redevelopment, boasting family entertainment, Broadwalk Bar and of course, fish and chips.

Harwich Foot Ferry: 1 April – 3 November

This foot and bicycle ferry for 58 passengers transports tourists and residents between Harwich, Shotley and Felixstowe with single and return journeys available. They also provide harbour tours and the opportunity to seal watch. A great place to see more of what Suffolk has to offer by sea.


Felixstowe Classic Vehicle Rally: Sunday 5 May

For the car enthusiasts out there, witness over 500 vehicles from cars, lorries, motorcycles, buses and military vehicles displayed along the promenade. Starting their journey from Christchurch Park in Ipswich, watch as the vehicles make their way to the seaside for an afternoon of motoring-fun.

Felixstowe Book Festival: 26-30 June

The Felixstowe Book Festival has become a highlight within East Anglia. Each year, the programme is filled to the brim with fiction, non-fiction, politics and history alongside a host of authors and music popping up along the way.

Felixstowe Carnival: 26-28 July

Founded over 60 years ago, the festival is about bringing the community together, with music, events, a fun fair and fireworks. This year’s theme is ‘Decades of the 20th Century’. Get set for music from the roaring 20s, psychedelic 60s, powerful 80s and beyond.

Art on the Prom: Sunday 1 September

Held from the Pier to the Spa Pavilion theatre, over 100 artists from East Anglia who work in a variety of mediums from painting, ceramics, glass, photography and textiles, display and sell their original artwork to passersby. There are free art activity tents led by local artists offering children and adults the chance to have a go at collage, willow weaving, print making and more.
