Discover festive events and Christmas shopping in this delightful Suffolk town
Woodbridge is a beautiful place to visit over the festive period. This idyllic market town has great shopping and events in the lead up to Christmas. There is a local tradition of Christmas trees with lights mounted to buildings as well as a large tree on Market Hill, usually switched on during the last week of November. Celebrated with Christmas themed stalls, this is a fun event to attend to get into the festive spirit.
Christmas Shopping in Woodbridge
The best shopping event of the year is the Mammoth Christmas Street Fair, taking place on 2 December. This fair is packed with stalls full of gift ideas from local craftsmen and independent stores. To keep you going while searching for the perfect present, there are plenty of food stalls and cafes so you can shop until you drop!
If you can’tmake theStreet Fair, Woodbridge still has lots of shopping opportunities. Full of independent retailers, a few of my favourites are Vanilli on the Market Hill with its Swedish style, and The Happiness Store on the Thoroughfare, which isfull of great gift ideas and possibly has the best window display on the High Street. The Woodbridge Emporium sells books and tea – the best combination inmy opinion, and SilverSun Jewellery has some beautiful pieces for that special person in your life. There are also several independent coffee shops where you can refuel after a day ofbusy shopping.
Carol Singing in Woodbridge
If you enjoy a good sing-alongthere are several carol services. St Johns Church offers a carol service in aid of EACH on 13 December. If you can brave the cold, there is a carol service on the Market Hill on 20 December run by the Rotary Club in aid of Macmillan. If you are going to this service I would suggest wrapping up warm as it can be very cold!
