On 25 June the filmmakers behind the new feature documentary Lancaster will join us to discuss bringing the Lancaster story to life through the words of the last surviving crew members. Hear behind-the-scenes insights, from how the team found veterans to participate, to filming with the RAF’s Lancaster and working with IWM’s Film Department.
Discover more about Duxford’s Lancaster KB889 on a guided tour and get the opportunity to climb inside the rear area of the iconic aircraft. After lunch, enjoy a cinema presentation of the documentary, and a chance to talk to some of the filmmakers.
‘Lancaster’ tells the story of the iconic Second World War bomber through the words of the last surviving veterans of the conflict, set in the context of the time. From the firestorms of Hamburg, through the famous Dambuster raids and the still-controversial bombing of Dresden, the emotional testimonies at the heart of the film tell of courage, fear, friendship, and moral ambiguity.
Ticket price includes an inside view of the Lancaster, talk and Q&A session with the film’s producers and directors, and a full-length cinematic showing of the film Lancaster. Lunch is not provided. Children may attend with parental supervision. No additional entry ticket to IWM Duxford is required with this ticket.
